What is the Health Benefit of Green Tea?

Green tea contains L-theanine, a naturally occurring amino acid found almost exclusively in tea plants. This amino acid serves as a neurotransmitter in the brain, sending signals to neurons that help the brain relax.

Research suggests that green tea may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, a neurodegenerative disease characterized by deteriorated memory.

This study suggests that antioxidants found in green tea may be responsible for this protective effect.

Catechins in green tea prevent bacteria from forming in the mouth

Recent research has shown that catechins in green tea can help prevent dental caries. The catechins found in green tea have antibacterial and anticariogenic properties.

The researchers studied human volunteers as well as mice in a laboratory setting to determine their effects on gingivitis and gastritis. Interestingly, the research also showed that catechins can prevent carious plaque formation. In recent studies, the an

tioxidants in green tea have been shown to inhibit many bacterial functions, including the synthesis of PBP2′ by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

This leads to reversal of resistance to b-lactam drugs. Catechins in green tea inhibit conjugative transfer of R plasmids in Escherichia coli, reducing the sharing of antimicrobial genes.

Catechins in green tea also inhibit the activity of efflux pumps, including Tet(K), which is responsible for tetracycline resistance.

L-theanine in green tea reduces likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease

Researchers have found that L-theanine in green tea may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. In animal studies, this antioxidant has been shown to reduce plaque formation and memory loss in mice with the disease.

The next step in testing this green tea antioxidant in humans is clinical trials. This tea may also improve heart health. However, it’s important to understand the underlying mechanisms that make green tea beneficial for Alzheimer’s patients.

This study has some limitations, including the age of the study subjects. It was found that green tea, as well as l-theanine, increased theta brain wave activity one hour after taking the tea.

The effects of this tea on cognitive function were further observed in EEGs taken while the subjects read.

The researchers also found that the tea and l-theanine significantly improved memory and attention among subjects with mild cognitive impairment

Antioxidants in green tea lower total cholesterol

According to studies, green tea contains polyphenols that inhibit the growth of human lung cancer cells. However, no direct link has been established between green tea and lung cancer in humans.

There is a correlation between green tea and Okinawan tea, a type of Japanese tea similar to green. Drinkers of Okinawan tea had a lower risk of lung cancer, compared to black tea drinkers.

However, more research is needed to draw definitive conclusions. Also, people who are taking the anticancer drug bortezomib should not drink green tea.

Drinking green tea reduces the amount of LDL cholesterol in the body, which is the bad type. The consumption of green tea also lowers HDL cholesterol.

Researchers studied the effects of green tea catechins and found that they reduced total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.

Additionally, catechins have other heart-healthy effects, such as acting as a natural blood thinner and anticoagulant. These antioxidants may also reduce inflammation of blood vessels.

L-theanine in green tea protects against UV damato the skin

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a major cause of photodamage to the human body, incluing skin.

As the amount of UV radiation reaches the earth’s surface increases due to climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion, it is critical to develop strategies to protect skin cells from UV-induced damage.

Tea extracts are increasingly being studied as a possible skin-care supplement, though conflicting results have been reported.

The polyphenols present in green tea protect the skin from UVA and UVB radiation, as well as from oxidative cellular damage. This means that L-theanine found in tea protects the skin from UV-induced aging.

This chemopreventive and immunomodulatory effect makes green tea a promising alternative for skin-protection. Its benefits are not limited to skin-protection, though.

It lowers blood sugar levels

Studies have shown that green tea helps regulate blood sugar levels and can prevent diabetes. The pancreas cannot produce enough insulin, causing increased glucose levels and elevated blood sugar levels.

Although diabetes can be dangerous, it is manageable with proper diet and exercise. Dedication is needed to regulate sugar levels. Green tea is an excellent natural remedy for this condition.

It has several health benefits. A recent study found that green tea can reduce the risk of diabetes and improve the quality of life for diabetics. Researchers have discovered that green tea reduces blood glucose levels in both diabetic and healthy mice.

These mice were given green tea powder suspension or saline. Their blood glucose levels were assessed before and two hours after the tea administration.

The results showed that the tea significantly lowered blood glucose levels in the diabetic and STZ-diabetic groups, whereas no changes were observed in the normal mice.

Further research will reveal if green tea can help people who are overweight or diabetic.
