If you have had a stroke, your first priority will probably be finding some help around the house.

You can also get help from others, but make sure to check with your medical team first.

Many people do not realize that certain simple changes can reduce the risk of stroke and improve your overall health.

One way to do this is by eating well. Watch the amount of saturated fat, fried foods, and sugar in your diet. Also, you may want to try some gentle exercise to help your body regain its strength.

Turmeric

Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles recently reported promising results using a drug containing turmeric.

The drug, called CNB-001, appeared to repair four critical signaling pathways, which fuel the runaway destruction of brain cells after stroke.

The researchers are now preparing human trials, although it may be a few years before we see the benefits of turmeric in treating stroke.

Using turmeric may encourage new cells to form in the brain, reducing the risk of cell death.

Aside from turmeric, other home remedies for stroke include ashwagandha or Indian ginseng.

This herb is rich in antioxidants and may prevent stroke.

Gotu kola, which is commonly used in Chinese medicine, has been shown to improve cognitive function after stroke.

Turmeric may also reduce cholesterol levels and prevent artery blockages.

Patients with blood-thinning medication should consult a physician before starting turmeric supplements.

CNB-001

A new compound called CNB-001 has shown promise as a stroke remedy.

It is an anti-inflammatory drug that passes through the blood-brain barrier and distributes rapidly in the brain, moderating a series of critical mechanisms that promote neuronal survival.

The compound is expected to advance into human clinical trials shortly.

The absence of blood or oxygen in the brain triggers a series of interrelated events that compromise the normal signaling pathways and electrical and chemical pathways in the brain.

When these pathways are disrupted, brain cells die. There are two types of stroke:

ischaemic and hemorrhagic. A related condition is called transient ischaemic attack, which occurs when a blood vessel obstructs a brain artery and prevents oxygen from reaching the brain.

These conditions are known as ischemic strokes and account for 87% of stroke cases.

Patients must understand their risk factors and choose an appropriate treatment based on their particular situation.

Tea

Tea

If you have had a stroke, you are likely aware of how important it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Even though traditional medicine has made significant advancements in stroke prevention and recovery, natural remedies have become increasingly popular.

These remedies include healthy foods and supplements, home remedies for motor recovery, and alternative medicines.

These alternatives offer a gentler way to heal the body and boost results from therapy.

Listed below are five ways you can help your senior recover faster.

In a Chinese study, 30% of the adults surveyed reported drinking two cups of tea a day, and the incidence of ischemic stroke was 0.5 percent higher in people who consumed at least two cups of tea a day.

Researchers used a validated questionnaire to measure the duration of tea drinking and the risk of stroke in each group.

The questionnaire asked about daily consumption of black and green tea, and also inquired about other lifestyle factors.

Probiotics

ln a study, researchers at the Semnan University of Medical Sciences in Iran used a strain of probiotic bacteria as a home remedy for stroke patients.

The study showed a positive impact on the Glasgow Coma Scale, which measures neurological function. However, these results were not conclusive.

Further studies are needed to determine whether probiotics improve neurological function after a stroke. In the meantime, probiotics are an excellent way to prevent neurological damage after a stroke.

In the first trial, patients were divided into three groups, the first group receiving placebo surgery and the second group receiving 107 CFU/ml of probiotics daily for 14 days.

At 24 hours following the stroke, the researchers assessed the neurological results.

The results showed that pre-treatment with probiotics reduced infarct size by 54%, but it had no effect on neuropathy.

Another study used 15 male mice and measured the levels of TNF-a and malondialdehyde.

Vitamins

Vitamins

When looking for a home remedy for stroke, one of the first things that may come to mind is vitamins.

However, if you are taking medications or have a preexisting medical condition, you should consult with your doctor before beginning any supplements or vitamins.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) boosts the levels of “good” cholesterol, which are statistically low in people with stroke. Likewise, consuming plenty of omega-3 fatty acids may also support stroke recovery.

While oranges are known for their high levels of vitamin C, many other fruits are also high in this nutrient.

According to Dr. Stephan Vannier of the Pontchaillou University Hospital in Rennes, France, taking dietary supplements could help reduce your stroke risk. These supplements are also less expensive than herbal remedies and pills.

It is advisable to eat a wide variety of whole foods and avoid highly processed foods that can deplete vitamins. However, consult your doctor before adding supplements to your diet.

Drinking alcohol

Drinking alcohol

there is no clear consensus on the role of drinking alcohol as a home remedy for stroke.

The effects of moderate alcohol consumption on the risk of ischemic stroke are unclear, but it has been associated with a reduction in the incidence of ischemic stroke.

Studies of older adults showed that moderate drinking was associated with a lower risk of stroke than heavy drinking.

Although these findings have not been replicated in other studies, they suggest that moderate drinking may help reduce the risk of stroke.

The health benefits of drinking alcohol in moderation are modest.

Approximately one drink per day can reduce the risk of stroke, but more than two drinks can increase your risk.

As a general rule, alcohol is best avoided for individuals who have a high stroke risk. Red wine is the best choice because it contains resveratrol, which is thought to protect the heart and brain.

Drinking one standard drink per day is equivalent to consuming about five ounces of wine, twelve ounces of beer, or 1.5 ounces of hard liquor.
